After following an opportunity at Summa Financial Services to look into various automation projects for the firm, my partners and I have spun up a Management Consulting Company specializing in three key areas. Advising clients on the use of XR (mixed-reality), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and RPA (Robotic Process Automation), in order to help our clients be more productive and to take the "robot" out of the human's job. As CEO, I am focused on building value for our early clients, leading our team of consultants (locally and remote), and making sure that everything we do provides a solid return on investment.

As an Accounting Manager for Summa I have been responsible for the full-cycle accounting for several clients as well as the senior manager for a team of accountants with clients of their own.

I was the manager of a small team at this business unit of an international defence contractor. Responsible for financial reporting, controls, and human resources there was always something different to work on at any given time. Responsibilities ranged from management reporting, budgeting, policy development, variance analysis, and cost savings initiatives to pricing, financing and foreign exchange strategies. As the human resources adviser and ethics officer I had a wonderful opportunity to interact directly with employees from all levels of the organisation.

Working at this large commercial print shop was an opportunity for me to grow in responsibilities over the course of my time there. While my primarily responsibilities didn't really change from budgeting, forecasting, developing internal controls, variance analysis, etc., I was challenged with a number of interesting difficulties. A controller at another business unit quit suddenly on the first day of their month end and my team and I needed to be able to step up and process their reporting in addition to our own, which we did on time and accurately. When the regional controller position was eliminated, I became responsible for the Atlantic Region's financial reporting and was then involved in consolidating a New Brunswick print shop.

I was hired to Genieknows.com to work directly under the CEO as her Accountant which quickly transitioned into her Controller. As a very successful family based business it provided the opportunity for me to be responsible for planning and performance of the financial, accounting, and administrative functions. The duties were varied, ranging from the ever-critical Cash Flow management to budgeting, forecasts, payroll, internal controls, human resources and general administration I was responsible for monitoring federal and provincial research grants and tax credits from the National Research Council as well as the Canada Revenue agency. I believe I learned more about the realities of business in my 2 years at Genieknows than I had anywhere else.

Recruited to this $35 million furniture manufacturer right out of Dalhousie university with the requirements of attaining a CMA accounting designation while working as an assistant to the controller. This was an interesting place to develop as it was primarily driven as a Scandinavian business. This included the use of A4 paper, reporting being done every 4 months (Tertial not a Quarter), and getting paid only once a month on the 25th. My duties there were to generate month-end financial statements as well as working with auditors for the annual, audited statements for the parent corporation. Managed the monthly continuity schedules, also was responsible for the Accounts Receivable function. Directed the Accounts Payable and provided guidance as required for the clerical staff. Reported directly to the Controller. After 6 years and achieving my CMA designation it came time to move into my own Controllership position.
