I am the Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA and database team leader for our commercial hospital application. I'm responsible for the design and implementation of database technology, and for the creation and enforcement of database architecture and programming standards. I work with the Engineering and Development teams to implement and maintain database enhancements, while ensuring that all modifications integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure. I research emerging database technologies for how they can be utilized within the application; determine business requirements; propose and implement changes; and develop migration/implementation plans for upgrading the application at client sites. I assist the Engineering, Development and Support teams in all database related issues, including installation and performance, and create / perform training on database methodologies as needed.

Performed as Microsoft SQL Server DBA / Software Developer for client. Projects included the automation of numerous time-consuming processes utilizing T-SQL procedures, report generation to Excel spreadsheets using SSIS and Excel Automation in T-SQL for access by their clients on their web site, certifying customer addresses to the US Postal database for reduced mailing costs, and importing internet orders into the database.

Five environments from development to production include 30 SQL Server instances and over 100 databases in 3 geographic locations. High-Availability technologies in place include Clustering, Database Transactional Replication and Log Shipping. During my time at this position, I have worked on improving performance on various processes that have been identified as problems from causing deadlocks to being excessively long running. I have also coordinated and implemented automated methods to monitor servers and to record problems and to notify DBAs of issues within the production servers. Microsoft SQL Server DBA / Team Leader of a three-person team tasked with the development and implementation of a new inventory management system. As DBA, I was responsible for all of the back-end, including data modeling (utilizing SyBase PowerDesigner), database sizing, creating all of the necessary stored procedures for data manipulation, query / index performance analysis and tuning, and designing and deploying reports with SSRS / BIDS. Application connected to SQL via ADO/OLE-DB. Coordinated with production DBAs to design backup plans for the database, and implementation of reports into a SharePoint portal.

Responsible for the design, administration, development and maintenance for a commercial enterprise pharmaceutical application, which consists of a Delphi front-end and Microsoft SQL Server back-end via ODBC connection. De facto database administrator for SQL Server on site, and for multiple clients. DBA responsibilities included SQL Server upgrades, applying service packs, ensuring backups being performed and restores as necessary.
