Hardware Design Engineer
Current• Providing products and solutions for radio astronomy, passive coherent location/passive radar, and commercial and military spectrum monitoring sectors• Designing electronic circuits including high speed (40 gbps) backplanes, PSU (DC-DC), RF receiver front end and system management circuits• Designing acceptance test procedures to verify system and board level specifications• PCB layout and schematic capture including high speed backplanes, RF layout, ADC boards, power supplies, 2-18 layer PCBs with blind and buried vias, as well as back drilling• Designing internal and external harnesses and cables• Working closely with mechanical designers to create rack mounted enclosures, as well as ruggedised IP67 man portable and pole mount enclosures, including active and passive cooling• Testing applications in C, C# and Python• Selecting and liaising with manufacturers and suppliers• Performing as a strong leader of a cohesive team with strict enforcement of health, safety and statutory regulations, quality standards, governance processes and compliance requirements
