An early pioneer in vintage guitar collecting. featured over 150 instruments, mostly Archtop guitars built by the Masters, Elmer Stromberg, John D'Angelico, Epiphone, Sam Koontz, Bob Benedetto, Jim Triggs, Gibson, Fender and others.

Served P/T in men's clothing and jewelry departments, (fields of interest) in order to get some additional retail experience, further utilize some of my business merchandising and selling skills, broaden my horizons and social network.

Prosled was a start up firm which manufactured and marketed a movable extension bed accessory for the auto industry...specifically OEM and after market products for pickup truck beds, vans and SUV's. I Served as both CEO and VP Sales & Marketing. A minority shareholder, I was in a position of leadership and responsible for raising start up capital, investor relations, establishing fabrication and many of our vendor resources. I coordinated my efforts with that of the COO (founder), Senior VP. (co-founder) and CFO (attorney/accountant)Additionally, my marketing and sales activities included, creating brochures, sales aids, trade show organization, networking and market research, generating press releases and advertisements, establishing and servicing the dealer distribution channels on a Nationwide basis, and generating new product orders.

Johnson Scale Co., (distributor) Established in 1897 by my grandfather, Leonard Theodore Johnson...For years the industrial mechanical scale company was run by the founder's son and my Dad and Mom, Allen Y Johnson & Jean Johnson. I joined the firm at an early age as a scale mechanic and worked my way up through the ranks learning the scale business from the ground up. I learned to repair and rebuild scales and work in a machine shop and drive trucks and tractor/trailers. Upon graduation from college, I joined the firm full time as a salesman, marketing man, and eventually became President. I pioneered the firms entry into the electronics era, starting out as a dealer/distributor, salesman, service tech, product designer, and later as an importer and exporter. The firm imported the Precisa Industrial Lab Balance line from Switzerland, and the Johnson-International line from Israel. We also represented top U.S. brands, Weightronix, NCI, Pennsylvania Scale , Chatillon and Dillon products, among others. I established the Josco Systems and Automation division which included design, sales and service of Josco Smart Arm tm lab robotics systems, Computer Integrated Scale Systems (CISSY), and batch control systems. I was active in all of the industry associations (SDA, SMA, ISWM (formerly NSMA) and served in the leadership capacities at many of them. I received several industry awards (Miles Fishman, Woody Woodland, and others) during my tenure with the Johnson Scale Co.My extensive experience at Johnson Scale Co., and success within the industry lead to my positions at Pennsylvania Scale (manufacturer) which I held concurrently for 14 years. I sold my interest in the business to my brother Ross A. Johnson and the sale was completed in 2002.

Pennsylvania Scale Company established in 1908 was primarily in the mechanical scale manufacturing business, building industrial, retail and postal scales for it's own distributor organization and OEM clients such as Pitney Bowes, DuPont, Arby's and others. My experiences in bringing electronic weighing technology to the Johnson Scale Co., attracted the Board of Directors at the Pennsylvania company, and I was invited to do some consulting, which lead to a role as V.P. Corporate development and eventually lead to the positions of leadership.During my tenure, I focused on building and becoming more dependent on our dealer/distributor business than on our higher risk OEM activities. Our distribution network was expanded to include exporting to many countries. In order to fill the void in some product line areas, we even decided to import some products in order to round out our product offerings and maintain a very competitive posture in the marketplace. I enjoyed many aspects of the position, including but not limited to product design and development. Though I wasn't the engineer, my seasoned background and experience lead me to present many of my own ideas and concepts to our engineering and marketing groups, which ultimately lead to the creation of a diverse and complete product line offering, still being offered today. My contributions to the Marketing, Engineering and Production departments lead to our having a very dependable and broad line of industrial electronic scale products...including Airline Baggage Scales, Low Profile Platform Scales, Bench counting and weighing models, and more. One of my contributions was "Touch Screen Technology and "Soft-Weigher" tm technologyMy team defeated a unionization attempt during my tenure, successfully completed Y2K, MRP, and streamlined our production practices. Market share was also gained. I stayed with the firm, and enjoyed it, until the time the company was sold to Epelsa Group of Spain.

Imported my own design "Johnson" archtop jazz guitars from Japan, and the Session Amp line from England.I sold primarily high end instruments to professionals. Many of the instruments sold were new instruments stripped of their hardware and electronics and rebuilt with upgraded components...better tuners, pickups, hardware and electrical parts.

Performed and toured with Guitar Legend, Les Paul. Highlights were the "Gibson Galaxy of Stars" Concert held at Namm Atlanta Summer of '79 where we shared the stage with Howard Roberts, Larry Carlton, Pat McGee, Bruce Bolen, Mike Elliott and other notable Gibson Artists. Toured with Les in Argentina, South America for Alex Music NYC and elsewhere in USA. Touring and our stage show was essentially the same show Les performed as far back as for Richard Nixon when he was VP under Eisenhower. our show consisted of Les on guitar, the "Les Paulverizor" and Wayne Wesley Johnson on drums. Our touring ended when Les was faced with health problems. Les later returned to the stage locally with his "Les Paul Trio" at Fat Tuesdays and later the Iridium. He didn't use drummers in the trio. We remained close friends until the time of his passing.
