Since he had a client, he built the server--again using technologies he hadn't known when starting--to test it. He had this entire project, which was scheduled to take the Summer, done in two weeks. During this time he dropped in to ask me a few good questions and to discuss music. He's smart, fun, and great to work with.", "I came on to IA as a consultant to build a team to take over Walt's Javascript-based client application. He had done what seemed impossible: built a working, high-performace, multi-threaded client application entirely in Javascript, using extremely clever arrangements of visible and hidden components. The client received commands from the server in what was--at the time--an unprecedentedly clever and effective translation of XML into Javascript. When we moved this application to a C++ framework we were able to reuse Walt's screens with extremely little modification; mostly we added some glue code and then made changes as new features came in. Walt popped back to the client side to write the tricky multithreading in the server communication layer, converting that clever Javascript back into XML. Walt solves complex problems quickly. He grasps complex requirements quickly. And he proposes clever solutions that work. Super smart guy. He's also extremely fun to work with: sharp, quick, funny, laid-back, and an all-around good guy.", and "Walter is smart, hard-working, and fun to work with.
