As a graduate assistant working in the graduate school, I work with current and prospective students. For current students, I answer basic questions regarding enrollment, graduation, and funding. If any question is beyond my knowledge, I connect students to the proper staff member. Working on the admission side allows me to work with students from a diverse background as I serve as their first point of contact for the University of Tulsa. I answer questions related to admissions and assist our admission team with setting up for events. As new graduate assistants enter our office, I train them on specific duties and keep an updated version of our training manuals so that they are adequately trained.

My job as a groundskeeper for American Residential Group allowed me to work on several properties and learn new skills. I was expected to perform basic pool maintenance, empty garbage receptacles, and tidy the grounds of several apartment complexes situated in downtown Tulsa to maintain American Residential Group properties as the luxury apartments they are. My almost ten years of the company helped me learn basic workplace communication skills, as well as conflict management and, when we had big events, time management. Everything I have taken away from my time here will allow me to thrive in any job.

Shortly after graduating, I was offered the chance to complete an audit of the University of Tulsa's Wesley Campus Ministry. As an external auditor for Wesley, I conducted an audit of their finances for their 2020 fiscal year as well as their internal controls. This included meeting with the director to develop a deep understanding of Wesley, ensuring proper separation of duties was maintained, reviewing bank reconciliations and journal entries to ensure the proper recording of transactions, and finding areas where internal controls could be improved. An audit report was written by me to be given to a nonprofit board for grant purposes. In this position, I gained basic auditing knowledge as well as a basic introduction to nonprofit auditing and accounting.

At the University of Tulsa's Wesley Campus Ministry, I was responsible for ensuring all areas of the building were clean. This consisted of vacuuming, organizing materials, cleaning the bathrooms, etc. Another responsibility was helping set up for student-oriented events, such as lunches, haunted homes, and participating in events when available.

As a work study student for the University of Tulsa's McFarlin Library, I was responsible for maintaining the reception area on the ground and lower levels, greet 30-40 visitors per shift, respond to questions in person and via telephone, and connect students with specific librarians that could assist them when their questions were beyond my knowledge. I was also responsible for the checking in and out of materials and shelving of said materials. Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system was important for proper shelving.
