Two Year program that is developing individuals to be advocates for agriculture, be involved as voices in politics, leaders in their own life and operations as well as in county and state farm bureaus,, and build on the skills and talents the individual already has.Leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, coalition building and tackling issues are all necessary traits for farmers and ranchers today. • Maintain tractors and equipment; prepare the arena dirt for equine activities, rodeos, and many other events; manage the entire facility; clean and stock the facility; prepare our event room for events; submit deposits/handle paperwork; set up and create contracts for events; sell stall and RV rentals; repair pipes and faucets; mow and weed eat; maintain roadways; customer service; oversee events; and a variety of other tasks. • Recruit help for events and volunteers; work with and manage employees, research events to bring to the center, research for our audience preference and industry trends. Manage Facebook pages and groups; creating content for events and advertisements for producers.• Created and edited contracts, procedures, and official documents.

Managed 200+ Commercial & Registered Brangus, Beefmaster, and Baldy cow/calf operation, 15 head Longhorn cattle, and 20+ horses. Fed and oversaw cattle and horses. Tagged, tattooed, branded, vaccinated, wormed, weighed, doctored, castrated, moved, and counted cattle; took blood samples for pregnancy checks; calved heifers and cows out; executed rotational grazing of cattle; maintained cattle BCS; met target gains on stockers/replacement heifers sending to special sales; and worked cattle horseback/on foot. Maintained accurate herd data, treatment protocols, herd health records, breedings (AI and natural), pasture rotations, and vaccinations on Cattlemax program and on paper records. Registered Brangus cattle through IBBA. Maintained landscape and grounds around ranch facility yards, barnyard, pastures, arena, and arena parking lot. Prepared covered 112x270 arena for events.Managed or helped with ranch improvement projects including: repairing fences, gates, roadways, water troughs and lines, and box stall drinkers and water lines. Other projects: light welding, plumbing, and torch work, painting, and cutting/spraying mesquite/cedar/weeds. Operated and maintained basic maintenance and fluids on all equipment/tools/implements.Cared for ranch horses: feeding, doctoring, taking to vet, riding, training, breeding, and ground work with horses. Prepared ranch horses for sale and took to sales; and prepared yearlings for horse sales (grooming, slicking out, exercising, lunging, handling feet, teaching to square hooves, ordering and taking hair for DNA test kits, correcting registration papers through AQHA). Taught horseback riding lessons to therapeutic riding instructors. Recorded ranch horse health, vaccination, worming, farrier, and vet work records. Equine director for therapeutic riding center. Supervised summer employees including providing tasks for them to accomplish, working with them, holding meetings, and organizing their schedules.

Ranch hand feeding and caring for livestock (cattle, goats, sheep, horses, dogs). Helped process, castrate, dehorn, vaccinate, worm, tag, ear notch, weigh, and doctor livestock. Prepared bulls for sales: shaving and fitting. Took livestock to auction. Halter trained young horses, foaled out horses. Worked cattle horseback and on foot. Helped work 300+ Spanish goat herd. Maintained landscape in ranch house yard, barnyard, and pastures (administered herbicides, weed control, mowing, weed eating).Repaired fences, gates, roadways, and water troughs and lines. Maintained basic maintenance and fluids on tractors, lawn mowers, and farm trucks. Operated trailers, tractors, auger wagons, mowers, weedeaters, and ranch vehicles.

• Taught and demonstrated basic hands-on horsemanship skills at TAMU Horsemanship Clinics for 4-H members and their parents at clinics conducted through the state of Texas.• Spoke to and interpreted to large groups, ages including 5 to 65, while holding clinics and discussions.
