I am working towards becoming a Certified Public Health Inspector. As a fourth year student in Conestoga College's Bachelor of Environmental Public Health program, I am looking for a practicum placement as a Student Public Health Inspector. I believe I have the skills and enthusiasm to work along side certified public health inspectors to protect the health of the public.During my time at Conestoga, I have become familiar with the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the regulations under this act. I have practice serving Section 13 orders, as well as section 1 and 3 provincial offence notices. Additionally, I have an understanding of how to apply the progressive enforcement model in the tobacco control, food safety, control of infectious disease, safe drinking and recreational water, and health hazard programs. I also have practical experience performing mock inspections and audits, using the Hedgehog inspection software, Microsoft Office 365 programs, and an excellent base of theoretical knowledge. I also have experience providing administrative support for Hedgehog software.Through tutoring, I am continuing to practice providing education and further developing my ability to communicate verbally, interview, think analytically, and problem solve to adapt my approach to changing situations. By acting as Chair of the Bachelor of Environmental Public Health Student Committee, for the last two years, I am improving my organization, communication, and interpersonal abilities, while gaining a great deal of leadership experience. Once certified, I will work towards a specialization and attain a Master's degree. Due to the nature of interdisciplinary careers, I am remaining open to a variety of specializations as opportunities present themselves.
