Dr. Ethan Cheng is an Assistant Professor and Internship Coordinator in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Western Carolina University. He earned his Ph.D. in Food and Hospitality Systems from the University of Missouri-Columbia.Dr. Cheng was named one of the Notable Hospitality Leaders in 2024, one of the Global 30 Influential Educators in Hospitality for 2023, one of the 100 Most Powerful People in USA Hospitality in 2022, and one of the Global 25 Most Influential Educators in Hospitality for 2021 by the International Hospitality Institute. He received the 2023-2024 Creative and Innovative Teaching Award and Engagement Award and the 2022-2023 Excellence in Research Award from the Western Carolina University College of Business.His teaching interests include lodging management, hospitality human resource management, hospitality finance management, and hospitality sales and marketing. His research interests include human resource management, information technology, service marketing, and consumer behavior.
