About Walter De Brouwer

From 1990 onwards I have been a founder in AI and deep tech companies. Two of these have undergone public offerings in Europe (LSE, Euronext) and 2 in the USA (NYSE, NASDAQ). My latest AI company (doc.ai) was acquired by Atlanta-based ShareCare [NASDAQ: SHCR] and went IPO in 2021.I have a PhD in computational linguistics and have been an adjunct professor at Stanford University since 2018 where I am the course director of MED-205, exposing my graduate students not only to entrepreneurship but also to the newest AI models that can help their research.My research interests are in Multimodal Transformers, Large Music Models, Computational Biology, Philosophy of Information, Tokenization and 6G. I am the CEO of Snowcrash, a GenAI research company for Music Publishers. Since 2023 I curate the TED speakers for TEDAI yearly in San Francisco.I am a General Partner at Claritas Capital (Nashville) where I run the Media and Entertainment (Claritas M&E) sector. I am a member of the Recording Academy (Grammy’s), a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Life member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Army and Navy Officers Club of Washington, D.C.
