The organization monitors internal and external performance indicators to proactively identify areas of risk for the network and customers. Span of control includes all Sprint network services and 3rd Party Applications. Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Sprint/Nextel’s Data/Messaging networks. The team of 185 engineers is accountable for network performance and all technical matters for IP/GMPLS, ATM/Frame Relay, Location Based Services, Data/VOIP Switching, Text Messaging and 3rd Party Content. Vendor Management responsibilities such as RFI/RFP, support contracts, performance service level agreements, periodic performance reviews and contract remedies are supported by NTAC. Manage datacenter operations from development to implementation and monitoring.

Coordinate with Finance, Technology Development, System Engineering, Voice Services, Service Deployment, GSCM, Construction/COE, Program Management, IT, Telco Management, vendors and local markets to engineer and deploy an annual capital plan of approximately $500 million. Manage and lead a 125-person organization including P&L, performance management, and team development.

Responsible for all aspects of Nextel’s Network Infrastructure Engineering and Operations. This includes planning, management, maintenance, and operations of the iDEN network to ensure quality of service and system availability for a five state area. Management of a geographically dispersed workforce of approximately 75 people covering a 6 state region. The Midwest Area served as Nextel’s FOA market for new hardware and software releases.
