Head Night Auditor
Yokohama Grand Inter-Continental Hotel Co., Ltd.
Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan
Webb's work with the Yokohama Grand Inter-Continental Hotel began during it's pre-opening stage, followed by the initial launch of hotel operations and subsequent Grand Opening, continuing on for another year of regular operations. As the Head Night Auditor, Webb was the only non-Japanese employee who was fluent in both Japanese and English; as such, he was a key player in the launch and operation of the hotel, and in helping the the locally hired staff to successfully interact with the hotel's executive leadership, which was entirely drawn from Great Britain, Europe, and Australia. In this role, Webb ensured that all revenue-generating transactions from the hotel's 14 Food & Beverage outlets, the Front Desk, the Gift Shop, Florist Shop, and Dry Cleaning Services were performed in a fiscally sound and accurate fashion. He also oversaw the nightly posting of room & tax charges for all occupied rooms, the permanent digital storage of each day's revenue, and the generation of daily reports to the hotel's executive leadership team detailing the prior day's business revenue.Webb also proved his capacity to help minimize the cost of running his department. A few weeks after the hotel's Grand Opening, he advised the CFO that there wasn't enough work to keep his full staff, consisting of three assistant night auditors, busy and engaged throughout the graveyard shift. Everyone had become so efficient that the time required to complete each night's work had dropped by nearly 30%. This "problem" was happily resolved as the CFO reassigned one assistant to a different role on the day shift.Thirteen months after the hotel welcomed it's first guests, Webb was offered the role of Night Manager at the next new hotel to be launched by the Inter-Continental Hotels group in Los Angeles, California.
