After 10 years working as a graphic designer starting at the Yorkshire Post in 1989 and then in advertising agencies in and around Leeds and Yorkshire, I took the plunge in 1999 and left my current position at Advertising Principles to form Deepblue-digital. I started Deepblue-digital as an advertising, marketing, and graphic design agency. With the internet still in its infancy, I used web design primarily as a showcase for my design skills and as a foot in the door with companies who had an incumbent design/advertising agency who were not providing web design.On a trip to LA in early 2000, I became aware of the potential of the coming internet revolution as more and more and smaller and smaller business were having websites created. Finally, seeing a hobo with a piece of cardboard saying 'buymeabeer.com' I realised the internet was here to stay. On returning to Leeds I decided to focus more on web design and development and build Deepblue around that.In 2005 I took over another company DTH Advertising a more traditional Design, Print, Radio, and Television agency. Both companies work out of the same offices in Roundhay Leeds and compliment each other very well.After many years as a business owner, I feel I am still very much learning and experiencing new challenges every day. I have changed from Employee to Self Employed to Manager to Director and my interests have changed from Design, Technology, Marketing and Business. This has allowed me to stay excited and interested while remaining in the same industry. Hopefully, this will never change, and with the relatively recent popularity of SEO and digital marketing, Deepblue is forging into exciting new areas with web design, SEO, and marketing industries.Specialties: Search engine optimisation (SEO) and Web Design in Leeds and Yorkshire.
