I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC II) and a Nationally Certified Addictions Counselor (NCAC II). I worked in the Addiction Treatment field in a variety of capacities for 15 years. I began my career in this field as a Residential Program Counselor at Cornerstone of Recovery and worked in that capacity for 3 years. I then joined the Marketing team at Cornerstone. I worked as Clinical Outreach Manager for 4 years where I developed and maintained strong referral source relationships across East Tennessee. I was then promoted to Director of New Business Development where I developed and oversaw new projects that were aimed at helping the company grow in size and scope. In 2015, I was promoted to Director of Marketing and Business Development. I held that position for 6 years. In 2021, Cornerstone was acquired by Bradford Health Services and I was asked to serve as Executive Director of Cornerstone of Recovery and Stepping Stone to Recovery. I served in that capacity for 1 year and left the company in October of 2022.Since starting work in this field, I’ve continuously been involved in many substance abuse prevention and addiction recovery related initiatives throughout East Tennessee.Beginning in 2023, I joined the Metro Drug Coalition staff as Director of Development. My focus is on fundraising and also on helping start The Gateway - Recovery Community Center. In 2023, I received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the East Tennessee Association of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselors (ETAADAC). In 2016, I was named Professional of the Year by the ETAADAC. In 2015, I received the Prevention Champion Award from the Blount County Community Health Initiative. In 2014, I received the Recovery Services Award from the Metropolitan Drug Commission. And in 2013, I received the Community Service Award from the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association. In my time away from work, I am with my wife and 2 boys on our family farm. We raise horses, hogs, chickens, and a wide variety of seasonal crops (including 2,500 asparagus plants!).In 2017, we launched a new clothing and apparel line for recovering people called Higher Powered Lifestyle Apparel Co. (higherpowered.me). I have served on the board of directors of Clover Fork Coal Company since 2009. I have served on the board of directors for Provectus Biopharmaceuticals, Inc since 2019.I also serve as Manager and Chief Helper for my wife’s musical and art career, Robinella.
