Wei-Cheng Lien received his BS and PhD degrees from the Department of Electrical and Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, in 2007 and 2014, respectively. His research interests include VLSI design and testing, wafer diagnosis, AIoT system integration and image processing. He has published 7 patents and 50 technical papers including 7 best paper award and 4 best PhD thesis award. Lien joined MediaTek as a senior engineer in the AI-computing division from 2014-2018. He founded the Hyson Technology Inc. (HysonTech), which is an AIoT startup company since 2018. In the past few years, HysonTech team has launched several famous and successful AIoT commercial products, and has been used in aquaculture, smart traffic enforcement, manufacturing automated inspection, medical diagnosis, biotechnology analysis, marketing prediction and other fields. Lien also led team to double the company's revenue year after year, and won > 60 industry, government and academic awards around the world. The innovation results were widely reported by domestic and foreign media, and twice summoned by the Taiwan President to report to the Office of the Taiwan President. He is also the CTO of Slash Living Culture Company, Hualien, Taiwan since 2023. He helped to develop the only reed-based plant straws and reed-based building materials on the market by using drone and AIoT monitoring techniques to realize digital management on reed planting to ensure the reed quality for mass production. Lien was a recipient of Outstanding Young Alumni Award from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan Outstanding Social Youth Award and Republic of China Youth Medal Award from China Youth Corps, Outstanding Young Engineer Award from both Chinese Institute of Engineers and Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering, Excellent AI Best Speaker Award from Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Association, Outstanding Youth Award from Taiwan Association of Systems Science and Engineering and Outstanding Alumni of Taichung First Senior High School.
