Wei currently manages investments for single family offices with multigenerational assets and their private foundations, having previously built a long-term focused investment portfolio for a large single family office including oversight of asset allocation and investment strategy across all asset classes in both fund and direct investments. Prior thereto, Wei served as the Chief Investment Officer at AAA Auto Club Group and at the St Paul Foundation, respectively. Wei oversaw both Alternatives & Public Equity Investments for Sentry Insurance beginning in early 2014 when he was promoted to a full corporate officer. He initially declined the cold call pitch by Sentry in 2007 but eventually joined as the Director of Alternative Investments responsible for building from scratch and deploying investments of $1bn+ in Private Equity, Real Estate/Real Assets, Hedge Funds and Emerging Market strategies, which doubled in return after 9 years. Previously, Wei was the Private Equity Investment Officer for Oregon State Treasury, co-managing $9bn+ of capital invested globally in Private Equity partnerships & co-investments. Before that, he headed the equity long/short strategy as a Vice President in the Hedge Fund Investment Group with Citigroup Alternative Investments. He was formerly a Vice President at Asset Management Advisers in Greenwich Connecticut, leading all private investments for the multi-family office. Post business school, he was a Senior Associate at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners focusing on evaluating global fund/co-investment/secondary opportunities in Private Equity. Wei started his investment career researching Public Equity sectors/stocks at Fidelity Management & Research Company and Colonial Management Associates both in Boston.Having emigrated from Shanghai, China to pursue his American Dream, Wei has no hesitation being a whistleblower on unethical behavior. He attended boarding school at Shanghai Foreign Language School starting at the age of 10 and went on to study Computer Science at the prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong University before transferring to the US. He has a degree in Finance from Boston College and received his MBA in Private Equity with honors from the Wharton School. He is a CFA charterholder and he is also FINRA licensed. While in Oregon, he was an Adjunct Professor of Corporate Finance & International Finance for Marylhurst University's MBA program.
