Digital Life Line (DLL) enables lab-quality detection sensitivity using our proprietary on-kit, reader-free, affordable signal amplification platform. The enhanced sensitivity can facilitate the shift of existing lab tests into point-of-care testing, and enable the use of non-invasive biomarkers like saliva. In addition, we have a patented technology that uniquely tags each test cassette, enabling the tracking and tracing of remote results for telemedicine purposes. At the same time, we work with existing manufacturing partners to move from MVP to commercial production of antigen rapid test kits in less than 4 months. In this role, I am responsible for business development, regulatory approval, and mapping the scientific roadmap for DLL's platform. We are exploring the clinical use cases for this platform in infectious diseases, cardiology, telemedicine and others, and look forward to working with like-minded diagnostic companies to create game-changing point-of-care diagnostics.

I initiate, coordinate and deliver projects ranging from patient support modules to real-world evidence, virtual clinical trials at Migraine Buddy. Working with the various business units (medical, health economics outcomes research, marketing) within our global pharma clients and academic institutions, I am responsible for designing and communicating action plans to achieve project goals.Healint leverages innovative techniques in software, data science and user experience design to empower people to manage their chronic conditions and diseases. Healint’s first global program - the Migraine Buddy platform and its apps - helps a thriving community of users manage and track their migraines.

As an Entrepreneur in Residence, I work with the Centre for Technology and Development (CTeD) group to craft business development strategies for scientific innovations at the Duke-NUS Medical School. In this capacity, I am responsible for global outreach to potential industry collaborators and investors. At the end of this project, I worked with investigators to secure research funding for key animal validation work in a novel indication.

I co-founded and led as PathoVax CEO, a biotechnology startup commercializing a breakthrough Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine developed at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The technology is a universal vaccine that prevents infection of all cancer-causing HPV subtypes, and has received substantial funding support from federal agencies. In this role, I worked with the founding team on fundraising, regulatory discussions, product strategy and industry partnerships in US and China.

I was a research fellow in the Jennifer Brown lab, which is a biorepository and translational laboratory focusing on elucidating the genetic basis for the heritability of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). In this role, I worked closely with a diverse team of clinical research associates and bioinformaticians on long-term research projects to generate key data into CLL.Project: Characterization of rare germ-line variants as potential predisposition risk factors in chronic lymphocytic leukemias

The Startup Leadership Program (SLP) is a highly selective, global, world-class training program and lifelong global network for outstanding founders, leaders, and innovators who want to become startup CEOs. The program began in Boston in 2006 with seven Fellows and has grown to 26 cities in 12 countries. SLP Fellows have founded more than 1,000 successful startups which have collectively raised more than $450M in funding.

As a PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins, I studied epigenetic changes in disease pathogenesis and progression of myeloproliferative neoplasms under the guidance of James Herman. Our goal is to identify epigenetic modifications in cancers as biomarkers and allow us to identify patients who will respond favorably to synthetic lethal cancer agents.

Dsyregulated receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signaling is commonly associated in cancer development and progression. The goal of the laboratory headed by Axel Ullrich is to elucidate novel RTK pathways driving carcinogenesis and identify potential targets for developing small molecule kinase inhibitors. My project focused on elucidating the role of klotho-beta (KLB), a newly discovered membrane co-receptor of FGFR4 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. Given the high recurrence and low five-year survival rate of this disease, this research aimed to shine light onto new pathways for therapeutic intervention. The research involved sequencing and quantitative real-time PCR analyses of paired liver samples from patients to uncover mutations, abnormal expression of KLB in HCC, and subsequently correlating this information with clinicopathological features. We showed that KLB gene expression is significantly upregulated in tumor liver tissue relative to their paired normal tissues and silencing KLB expression decreased cell viability of HCC cell lines. Future work will involve studying novel downstream targets of KLB and developing small molecule inhibitors to target the KLB-FGFR4 signaling pathway in HCC tissue.

As an intern in a small biotech startup, I initiated and led projects related to business development, marketing and advertising. At the same time, I was heavily involved in product research in adenoviral and adeno-associated viral technology platforms catering to research institutes world-wide.

As a training officer for the 1st People's Defense Force, I developed and executed lesson plans in military tactics for company- and battalion-sized infantry units.
