My first major research activity mainly involves with materials sciences and condensed matter physics, owing to my educational backgrounds in B.S and Ph.D, respectively. Benefited much from strong collaborations with materials scientists and synchrotron-based experts, I am capable of investigating physical properties (thermoelectricity, superconductivity, dielectricity, etc.) versus their structural origins, i.e. atomic structure or electronic structure, of many interesting materials.The various synchrotron techniques I have employed are: X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Structure Spectroscopy(XANES), X-ray Fluorescence, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, with much experiences in the first two. To understand well the experimental details of the spectra, I am always resort to theoretical tools. Moreover, I do some first principles calculation of transport property calculation using the Boltzmann Transport Equations. My second milestone research activity started from 2008, as I joined a novel project of Prof. A. Marcelli(LNF, INFN，http://www.linkedin.com/pub/augusto-marcelli/14/782/209) to design conceptually an integral X-ray and IR concurrent beamline. Supported by the fellowship from Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and carefully guided by Prof. Marcelli, I was able to outline a layout of the world unique beamline from a physicist's point of view, using various raytracing codes(e.g XOP, SHADOW, SRW and ZEMAX). After my appointment at Beijing synchrotron radiation facility, I was more willing to help our users to expand their gain from data collected at our beamline, and to optimize the data processing of XRF and XAFS.
