My current research involves studying the grinding tools used by the earliest farmers in the catchment of the Huai River in Central China (9000-7000 BP). My research will make use of the strengths of two different analytical methods, use-wear and starch grain analyses, to gain a more detailed understanding of not only the function of the tools but also the relationship between tool type and function, and the grinding techniques employed for food processing in the ancient Chinese societies. Some of my research results have been published in peer-reviewed journals, such as Quaternary International, Journal of Archaeological Science Reports, and Archaeometry.
