Fitter/Welder

Jun 2022 - Present

Level 3 Welding Specialist

Boulder, Co

At Emerson, my specialty was prepping, fitting and welding stainless steel tubing/pipe on to manifolds to produce the core of high capacity Coriolis flow meters. This process required precision welding because of the applications they're used for in the field, so the welds are subject to x-ray and dye-pen testing. The welds are applied in the 2G position with a 1/8"-3/16" gap and 100% argon back purge and required maneuvering in between other tubes, so various torch angles were needed to produce a consistent weld. Although tube welding was my specialty, I was responsible in operating all other aspects of the department. I would operate a semi-auto Pandjiris positioner to MIG weld the manifolds together, operate a hyrdo stand which pumped up to 5500 p.s.i. of water through the tubes to check for leaks and operate a Motoman robot which welded the casing outside the sensor to protect the electronics on the inside. I took much pride in my duties at Emerson which helped me excel and attain the top welding role in the department.

Dec 2011 - Feb 2019

Prototype Development/Robot Programmer/Welder

Mentor, Oh

Enterprise Welding and Fabrication is where my welding career began. They produce varied quantities of products such as heavy duty truck suspension components, log splitters and dashboard bases for companies like Case New Holland, John Deere, Kubota and even the U.S. Military. We would use fixtures to fit the components together and weld them manually or with a robotic arm and would frequently measure the products to ensure the fixture is still doing it's job and isn't damaged. To produce the weldments, we used solid MIG wire (.030"-.062") and I would use the TIG weld process to assemble the weld fixtures. I started off by learning to interpret weld blueprints and fine tuning my MIG welding abilities and ended up as the head of prototype/fixture development and a certified robot programmer after they sent me to Motoman Technical Education Center for basic and advanced programming classes. I went out of my way every day to learn as much as possible and it paid off. After 6 years of employment, I decided to uproot and pursue new opportunities and further my education in colorful Colorado.
