    ATN Closed in December of 2022 after 43 years of loyal service to listeners, I enjoyed every minute of the 5 years I was there (minus the pandemic), and have many memories to reflect on this opportunity.My role as a Recording Technician is to ensure the recording of the weekly Talking Newspaper has no technical glitches, Using specialist software (NewsBridge) and a 12 channel Mixer, I ensure that the readers are heard at the same volume, which is a tricky task as not all of them have their microphones in the same place. My main focus then is to start the recording and signal to the first reader (usually the Editor) to start, They then signal to me when they're near the end of their piece, and I prepare to switch inputs on the mixer and signal to the next reader to start.At the end of the recording, I carry out some quick editing in NewsBridge, I will trim off any excess silence from before the reader(s) start and add in any additional item(s) that have been recorded earlier that week/month, I then transfer all of the news recordings to a USB, and hand it to the copiers, who will then duplicate it and process the USB's for dispatch to listeners.I work as part of a team of 3, and we rotate amongst ourselves,
