With a technology budget of over $9 million and a full-time staff of 40 with more than 50 students, provided leadership for all aspects of information technology. Select recent projects included:• In response to the significant challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, led Pomona College’s extensive efforts to support students, faculty, and staff through this significant disruption. • In an effort to promote much needed diversity awareness in the academic IT community, was appointed as an inaugural member of Educause’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee.• To empower the effective use of technology at the Claremont Consortium, conceived of and co-founded a new IT collaborative governance structure for the Claremont Colleges. • In recognition of efforts to facilitate consortia collaboration, elected to be ITSC's first Vice-Chair, Chair-elect in 2016.• To reach the maximize full potential of the Claremont Colleges’ investment in administrative systems, was elected to be the Claremont Consortium’s first Chair of the Workday Governance Committee (WGC) for a term of two years. • To enhance Pomona competitiveness for the best students and faculty, launched a High-Performance Computing (HPC) initiative. • As part of a business continuity and risk management strategy, created a comprehensive cloud transition plan to move the institution from a traditional place-based infrastructure to one that was largely hosted in the cloud while also saving the college extensive financial resources. • In order to address and mitigate ever increasing electronic security risks, completely reengineered the college’s security program to bring the institution into Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-171 compliance while also maintaining academic freedom. -
Chief Information Officer & Associate Vice President For Technology ServicesUniversity Of Puget Sound 2010 - 2015Tacoma, Wa, UsWith a technology budget of over $6 million and a staff of 35 full-time team members and over 60 students, provided leadership for all aspect of information technology. Signature projects include:• Led a successful two-year project to replace the university’s legacy administrative system with Oracle’s PeopleSoft enterprise system. This project was delivered on-time and on-budget with no significant disruption of university operations. • Established a Project Management Office (PMO) for the IT department. As one of the few of its type in a small liberal arts college, the PMO has been instrumental in planning and coordinating technology projects across campus. • As part of a follow-on project, migrated the Admission system from a problematic third-party system to a hybrid solution with close integration to PeopleSoft. The resulting real-time system, combined with specialized pages for admitted students in the Portal, yielded more deposits on the first day than had been the case for three weeks under previous systems.• In close collaboration with Pomona College, deployed a ground-breaking disaster recovery partnership that will protect both institutions in the event of an emergency. • With the goal of unifying and streamlining support, merged the Service Desk, Educational Technology, and Multimedia units into a unified team under the direction of a single leader. The resulting cross-team collaboration yielded a dramatic improvement in campus service satisfaction. • As part of a green computing initiative, replaced individual servers with high-density, virtual server technology resulting in electricity usage being cut in half while, at the same time, providing far more capability and flexibility to the institution. -

Significant achievements include:• Lead a team that provided all aspects of computing relating to support, network management, software development, multimedia, print, telecom and Internet for the university, including strategic planning and budget management for computing services, database access, distance learning, administrative operations, telecommunications, educational technology and web development.• Established departmental and project budgets to provide the school's 2,000-member user community with the best current technology and user support while minimizing costs.• Redesigned and consolidated the university's technology infrastructure into a modern, integrated environment, resulting in significant service improvements while providing the university with substantial operational cost savings.• Through intensive project management and reorganization of the administrative systems team, rescued a failing, expensive Datatel administrative system implementation and turned it into a functional asset to the university.• Implemented a cost-effective “bulk order” strategy with Dell that saved the university over $500 per purchased desktop while keeping the school technologically up-to-date. Larger savings were generated through completely rebuilding the university’s photocopy operations in a way that was designed to provide convenient, secure printing without the need for a personal printer.• Reorganized the traditional "deskside" support models with automated tools to improve desktop maintenance while containing costs in an increasingly tight technology labor market.• Completely replaced and rebuilt the university’s telecommunications and cable infrastructures to bring both up to modern standards while saving the university approximately $500,000. -
