Let's de-care! The contradictions in the Dutch long-term care are big. While many people are not satisfied with the system as a whole, we also see a lot of great things happening. While our long-term care system squeaks and creaks, many caregivers still find it wonderful, so wonderful, that they get to work in care. They experience that they cannot do it optimally. We need to work differently, we've been hearing for years. Well, let's do it differently. Let's look closely at those fine examples, where we see less management, hierarchy, requirements and prohibitions. Let's focus on what really matters in our industry: as much carefree care as possible for our clients. Let's look at what really needs to be done by care specialists, but also bring in knowledge and people from other industries, so that care, with the ever-growing target group and smaller teams, remains affordable. Let's work together from the confidence that employees are doing the right thing for clients. Tasty food that really nourishes. Hospitable service and tailored attention. Care that does not lead to worrying, but to unburdening. As an entrepreneur, I am working on that new system together with my colleagues through various initiatives*. We know it can be done.
