Trauma-informed psychotherapist in private practice with a background in forensic mental health counseling. Compassionate and a bit quirky, my therapeutic style balances warmth, acceptance, and accountability. With a trauma-informed approach, I support adults navigating complex challenges such as: - Anger problems and emotional dysregulation - Burnout and overwhelm - Emotional detachment and relationship difficulties - Social isolation and disconnection - Compulsive sexual behaviors, including sex addiction and porn addiction - Life transitions - Chronic feelings of emptiness - Vicarious trauma and work-related exposures to disturbing contentBefore private practice, I worked in forensic mental health, treating adults mandated through U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services. Specializing in sex offender treatment, primarily internet offenses, I collaborated with federal probation officers and polygraph examiners to monitor risk factors. Through these experiences—and a bit of hindsight—I’ve come to understand just how deeply vicarious trauma can infiltrate the lives of those exposed to the worst of humanity on a daily basis.I now focus on supporting professionals manage work-related exposures to traumatic content, particularly those involved in the fight against online child exploitation. In this dark field, we naturally become consumed by the mission. The qualities that make us good at the job—attention to detail, alertness to risk, and dedication—also wear us down, disturb our psyche, and strain relationships. Over time, repeated traumatic exposures desensitize us, making work easier but creating other brain effects. We often don’t realize that issues with sleep, health, relationships, alcohol, or hopelessness are actually expected side effects of such exposures. Sometimes just making that connection can make a difference. As I continue to build my knowledge and expertise in this area, I'd like to offer specialized support, psychoeducation, and resources for professionals exposed to disturbing content like CSAM and violence. If you’re in child protection or related fields, I’d love to connect. No one should have to fight these battles alone.
