Austin Family Institute is a non-profit therapy center serving the greater Austin community. The therapists offer their services on a sliding scale basis, thus providing care to a wide range of clients based on their current financial situation. Austin Family Institute provides interns the opportunity to participate in clinical supervision and experience recorded therapy sessions. This clinical work has provided me with a unique experience that I would not have otherwise accomplished. As an undergraduate intern my duties include: answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, completing client intakes, checking voice-mails, taking messages, getting mail, sending faxes and making copies, and completing a clinical project. Through my internship at Austin Family Institute, I have learned to speak in a more professional tone. Austin Family Institute has helped me foster my professional speech, and I am now more confident when speaking with clients. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to research and present on a clinical topic. My time at Austin Family Institute provided me with learning tools for gathering research, compiling information into a presentation, and then delivering said presentation to an audience.
