CurrentThe Attorney General’s Department is the Chief Legal Advisory body, to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and engaged in rendering legal advice to the Central Government, Provincial Councils, Government’s Departments; Statutory Boards and such other semi-Government institutions concerning criminal and civil matters including constitutional and commercial predictions.I was serving as a Corporation Counsel attached to the Corporation Unit of the Civil Division of the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka from 01st of August 2014 to 30th of June 2016, and thereafter, I was absorbed to the permanent cadre of the Department as a State Counsel and is serving in that capacity since 1st July 20216.to date.Advising the Government of Sri Lanka on legal issues with respect to all State-related matters (i.e., Land, Finance, Agreements and Bonds (Local and Foreign), Revenue, Customs, and all Developments)• Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing all documents and other legal instruments executed by the Government bodies.• Advising the Government of Sri Lanka in Commercial Arbitrations by preparing all necessary documents.• Advising the Land Commissioner of Sri Lanka on the succession of State Lands and immovable property transactions.• Advising the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka on commercial transactions.• Advising the Registrar of Companies with respect to all matters in terms of the Company Act 2007.• Representing the Commissioner of Labour of Sri Lanka in the company winding-up proceedings.• Assisting relevant agencies of the Government of Sri Lanka on terms and conditions of commercial agreements/bonds.• Advise State authorities in negotiating bilateral treaties such as extradition treaties, mutual legal assistance treaties and multi- lateral treaties.• Researching statutes and previous court decisions relevant to cases• Preparing all terms of settlements and obtaining signatures of parties
