Expertise on power electronics and mixed-signal ASIC. We should be able to carry, deliver and convert electrical energy as easily as money and food. Power storage and conversation devices could become stand-alone end-user products.Power electronics industry has been developing at a slow pace in the past several decades. Power electronics product is the outcome of cross-disciplinary cooperation. The development of this industry relies on the improvement of several fundamental research fields. 1. Semiconductor technology. It's not only about the improvement of power switches, Driver ICs and Controller ICs, but also the next generation semiconductor technology, which could integrate energy storage materials on chips and further be used to create new types of thermal management materials, magnetic materials and energy storage materials.2. Energy storage components: battery and super capacitor. 10x ~ 100x higher energy density and power density with safety control. It seems the traditional battery technique could hardly meet this target. 3. Magnetic material. Higher permeability, lower core loss and customizable BH curve. And super conductor to reduce skin effect and proximity effect loss and to maintain constant magnetic field. 4. Energy harvesting technology and thermal material which could directly convert heat into electric power or absorb heat with applied electric power.Market and Dedicated Companies. These two factors are more important than all technologies. The market fosters customers and forms the cash flow to convert technology to products. A dedicated company could synergize all necessary core technologies to create valuable products. The public can hardly image the life with easy power conversion until we show the product to them and demonstrate how we can easily sell the electric energy in our cellphone to an E-bike owner for his ride of the next 10 miles. We don't have such market and such company yet. Infineon, TI, Renesas, OnSemi, MPS, PI, etc. are semiconductor companies with their capability limited within semiconductor technology. Delta, ABB, GE, etc. focus on applications. They can't create above-mentioned core materials and technologies. Apple, Tesla, etc. don't focus on end-user power products.
