I started in the work force with a diploma in journalism. But I struggled to find my niche in that industry. I tended to veer toward PR which was not really the direction I wanted. Being a single mom, my job choices eventually came down to money and I started working construction to supplement my income. This somehow led to running a hoist.Turns out I loved the environment, the pace, the people but the job held no challenge for me. So I went into safety.I completed my NCSO and went to work for SEJ. Thanks to the support, kindness and genuine friendship of my boss, I learned a great deal. But all projects end....So under the direction and helping hand of a friend at EllisDon I moved into the same position there. I'm a site safety coordinator working with the greatest group of people ever assembled. I love what I do and more so, love that I work with so many people who also love what they do. It makes for strong teams, elevated goals and a solid sense of satisfaction and pride in what we are accomplishing together. Even on the long days when the whole thing becomes a frustration I can still take a deep breath, refocus and remember why I do what I do. 1) because I'm good at it. 2) because I know we are leaving something safe, reliable and awesome in our wake. 3) because no one else can do it quite like we do.
