Worked in a small group under the direction of Dr. Paul O'Rourke to initiate the "War on Poverty" in the State of California. Was assigned to initiate and implement rural community health and welfare programs in the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys. Directed the inception of the VISTA volunteer program in California. Consulted on rural health issues as a followup to my work for the State in the Department of Public Health building rural outpatient clinics in the same San Joaquin Valley.
