Teaching is my forte, both on an individual level and in group settings. I have taught many clients and health staff for many years. I have also enjoyed teaching at a national level such as being a conference speaker. I have been the nurse representative, for several years (representating over 2000 nurses and 6000 staff) for the Waikato DHB on the Safety Culture Working Group. I was on a sub committee that wrote the 5 values, following the outcomes of our research questionnaire. I have completed many years of clinical assessments, in multiple setting, such as in ICU (including as a member of the transport team), surgical preadmission clinics, pre and post operative care, alcohol and drug addiction services and in the Occupational Health field. This experience has been invaluable in planning and implementing goals and helping people to make positive health changes towards achieving their person goals, as well as identifying areas that need further consideration with other healthcare professionals (such as specialists). The results of my auditing roles have lead to my making changes at a national level, to provide improved service and care. I am often described as bringing sunshine to the team. Whether is be with staff I have overseen, or colleagues, I believe that by creating a positive work environment people perform better, are more productive, make less errors and are retained more.
