Wendy Carpenter has worked in the long term care field for 25 plus years with dementia specific experience for the past 15 years. With a Masters Degree in Health Administration, Wendy began her career providing care as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Certified Assisted Living Administrator, and advanced with a degree in Business Administration and Economics, Wendy serves as the Executive Director for Blue Skies of Texas (formerly Air Force Village) Health Care Operations, assuming oversight of all health and wellness related services within the continuing care retirement community. Wendy has been instrumental in the development of the Freedom House program, a nationally recognized dementia care facility. Wendy develops programming and training focusing on performance improvement and quality indicators, improving care giver outcomes and resident and family satisfaction. Strategic planning with a focus on environmental analysis has resulted in improved operations throughout the continuum. A member of Texas leading Age EIA and public speaker, Mrs. Carpenter is the Recipient of the Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging Assisted Living Manager of the Year 2004 and The San Antonio Business Journal HealthCare Heroes Health Care Provider (non-Physician) 2004.
