Managing the Payroll function for Leeds Castle. Working in a stand alone role reporting to the Accountant in the Finance Department. Current employees number 272 but this fluctuates according to business needs with a high number of zero hours employees employed during the summer period.

Initially taken on for 6 week temporary assignment which was extended, working within a busy HR team. Collating new applications for vacancies and preparing interview schedules for Managers. Preparing offer letters, contracts, taking up references and gathering evidence for eligibility to work in the UK including CRB checks. Working with the HR Manager on divisional restructures and preparing proposed re-organisation charts. I was also needed to take minutes at disciplinary hearings and worked closely with the HR.I continued to work for this charity every Friday after I secured a permanent position elsewhere.

Assisting the Payroll Manager with the processing of all payroll related activities and reconciliations. In September 2008 the Payroll Manager left on long term sickness and I was solely responsible for the smooth running of the Payroll function. Staff numbers were approx. 450 covering Kings Hill, Telford and London Offices. Providing Management reports for SMT. Making BACS payments for PAYE, Pensions and other third party deductions.Working closely with the HR team on new starters, leavers and redundancies.

As Team Leader I organised, directed and controlled the daily activities of the General Accounts Team. This included cheque receiving and logging, purchase ledger, sales ledger and nominal ledger processing and associated reconciliations. I led and developed the Payroll function with the Payroll Officer to ensure staff were paid correctly and on time. I also ensured that transactions into and from CAF's main bank account were recorded and processed appropriately and completion of the Company's monthly VAT reconciliation and quarterly VAT return.Originally responsible for a team of 8, reducing to 3 members of staff with effective cross training and multi skills. Managing the team with staff recruitment, new staff training and completion of annual staff appraisals.
