I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in post-secondary education and now in the area of Parks and Recreation. My past work experience includes academic, disability, and personal counseling in higher education. I coordinated the Advising, Counseling, and Disability Service office and helped to create a counseling department. I organized and planned orientation sessions for both students and parents, planned professional development workshops, and taught Introduction to Psychology. I was also part of the ADA Audit team that conducted accessibility and inclusion through post-secondary institutions. My dissertation was centered around the impact of the 2011 Dear Colleague Letter on the implementation of Title IX in Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges. The purpose of the study was to determine whether community and technical colleges had appropriate policies and procedures, the reaction to the Dear Colleague Letter of 2011, and the reaction to the letter being withdrawn. I have presented and attended state and national conferences. Recently, I received a certification from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace.
