Update In 2019 I moved further into the specialist SEND environment by joining ChiItern Way Academy - Prestwood as a Senior Assistant Teacher. The training they provided in all areas of SEND was outstanding, as was their most recent Ofsted report. The opportunities for personal growth were unlimited but after 4 years of very student orientated interventions I was able to take up a post in the SEN department at nearby Holmer Green Secondary school. Having completed my first week in post I can confirm this is a school that has staff and student welfare at it's heart. Their motto of be kind, work hard, have passion is definitely worth supporting. I joined The Misbourne September 2016 when I decided a change of course was needed and moved to Buckinghamshire to train as a Dyslexia Specialist in a fantastic SEND unit at the Misbourne. This change has been as stimulating as rising to the challenge of teaching two new subjects along with Science at my last post in Stockwood Park Academy (previously Barnfield South Academy), a large academy with a high number of students with EAL and other challenges. I left Stopsley High School in July 2015 due to redundancy caused by major changes in the staffing structure, as the school moved to vertical tutoring.While at Stopsley I had responsibility for the planning, teaching, assessment, monitoring and reporting of whole classes in KS 3 Science. It was shown through regular observation and monitoring that I planned appropriate activities, simultaneously allowing for dynamism and flexibility, encouraging my students to shape their experiences and make differentiated contributions. I also regularly facilitated learning for whole classes in KS4 Science and PHSE.I used a variety of communication skills to liaise closely with staff and parents/carers to ensure their expectations were managed effectively.In a professional capacity I have organised and planned lessons/sessions in close coordination with other teaching and support staff, advising and mentoring PGCE trainees by sharing best practice. I have up to date knowledge of relevant statutory processes (risk assessment, safe guarding etc.), quality assurance criteria and government recommendations (ECM).My extra curricular activities include Archery and Horsemanship, Swimming and Motorcycling.In July 2014 I qualified as an Archery GB instructor with a view to enhancing the sports curriculum at Stopsley High School.
