CurrentAfter initial international research in the field of student misconceptions in mathematics I co-authored First Steps in Mathematics Resources (FSiM) and developed a Diagnostic Resource for Assessing Mathematics K-6 (DRAM). As a DRAM consultant I skill Primary and Middle Schools in implementing this diagnostic assessment to identify gaps in individual student's conceptual understanding, and gaps in classroom and whole school Mathematics programs. This enables schools to record the conceptual understanding of every student, and shows if they are either below, at or above the required standard for their year level. It also states what the student is able to learn next. This provides teachers with valid, specific, differentiated data for planning appropriate programs.
