On contract at Providence Health and Services: As a member of a six-writer team in Data Governance/Healthcare Intelligence, helped create a prototype of a website for 68,000 employees in a non-profit hospital system.  Analyzed source data. Planned, organized, and wrote MadCap topics and data governance processes. Designed templates and diagrams, and created the project Style Guide.

As a member of the AT&T Digital Experience Content team, directed documentation creation and publication in five major projects. Accomplishments included the following: Teamed with product management, engineers, developers, and business analysts to produce top quality documentation. Designed, wrote, and published customer-facing online help systems containing hundreds of topics. Wrote content for customer-facing websites. Created and executed project documentation plans. Managed project files through SharePoint. Performed user acceptance testing of the websites with the business, QA, and IT teams. Wrote content for online tutorials about how to use websites. Wrote video scripts for customer websites.

As a member of the Documentation and Training team, provided technical writing expertise in multiple projects and efforts. Accomplishments included the following: Created online help for the company’s injury/incident-reporting website, used by 35,000 employees, many of whom had little or no computer experience. Managed IT communications for a $6 billion divestiture affecting 12,000 employees. Wrote a 24-page handbook containing procedures and expectations for the first day after the company switchover. Wrote manuals, procedures, and other documentation for software developers, network administrators, and systems engineers. Using SharePoint, designed and implemented an enterprise website to be used as “IT information central” by the entire company, providing easy access to IT products, services, and training. Managed all IT communications: wrote, edited and approved communications in a variety of formats and media. Devised communication plans for projects. Collaborating with senior scientists, created functional specifications and complete documentation for a 10-year major research project. Edited patent submissions. Working with security experts, created and managed documentation and communications for the IT Security team. Edited templates and IT disaster recovery plans for critical tier 1 and tier 2 applications. Participated in disaster recovery walkthrough exercises. As the IT Disaster Team communications liaison, wrote and distributed critical communications when the team had to scramble for an emergency.  Wrote monthly executive summaries for directors and senior managers. Mentored new writers.

Contract technical writer for Diagnostic Ultrasound medical device company. Created online help for the application running their latest product. Hands-on experience with the device to provide the basis for the documentation.
