Directs and coordinates special education program and staff in the public charter school, Grimmway Academy Shafter to teach students with mental and physical disabilities: Formulates policies and procedures for new or revised programs or activities, such as screening, placement, education, and training of students. Evaluates special education programs to ensure that objectives for student education are met. Interprets laws, rules, and regulations to students, parents, and staff. Recruits, selects, and evaluates special education staff. Prepare reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Contracts with outside County SELPA for needed services. Administers achievement tests to measure student level of performance.

I have been teaching for National University at the Bakersfield, California campus as an adjunct faculty member where I teach the SPED 628 class, Teaching Reading and Language Arts in Special Education. My duties include preparing and sending class outlines to the Department Chair for approval, give assignments and administering examinations that are consistent with the class outline; participate in the instruction of curriculum, making myself available to students outside of class time, supervise students where my work is guided by the University's course syllabus and relevant handbooks.

I was responsible for teaching the Common Core English Standards to 9-12 grade emotionally disturbed students in a self-contained ED program. Responsible for writing, conducting, and implementing IEP goals for each of my students while consulting daily with the mental health staff, comprehensive site teachers, administrators, parents, group homes, and guardians.

Taught both 7th and 8th-grade students with learning disabilities math and language arts. Responsible for writing, conducting, and implementing an individual education program for each student on my caseload. Collaborated with the general and special education staff daily to help ensure smooth transitions when my special education students rotated classes. Communicated with staff, parents, and students to provide up-to-date progress and concerns when warranted.
