Appointed as a Commissioner to the inaugural Commission on Racial Equity (CORE). CORE’s purpose is to advance racial equity in government operations and to increase community voice in government decision making. The law requires CORE to work with communities to do the following:• Identify and propose community equity priorities. These community equity priorities will inform city government's newly required racial equity planning process and actions.• Review and publicly comment on the new citywide Racial Equity Plans.• Publicly track agency compliance with Racial Equity Plans and processes.• Receive complaints about agency conduct that may have the effect of exacerbating racial equity disparities and make recommendations to agencies to address such complaints where appropriate.• Respond to requests of the speaker of the council and its committees regarding racial equity concerns.

• Provide thought leadership on Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, strategic mission and goals, including creation of ODEI Strategic Plan, and inform and lead agency towards DEI best practices; • Supervise ODEI team members including managers, program managers, administrative staff, interns and other staff members including providing professional development, performance evaluations, regular feedback and coaching; • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the agency on trainings, programs, cultural celebrations and overall Diversity and Inclusion strategy; • Integral member of cross functional committee creating a Leadership Development program for all FDNY supervisory personnel. • Oversee the Diversity and Inclusion training for all FDNY members which include developing the annual training schedule and implementation; • Create and conduct trainings on leadership development, implicit bias, implicit bias and interviewing, LGBTQ+, inclusive leadership, emotional intelligence, allyship, racial inclusion and microaggressions; • Liaison and collaborate with the Equal Employment Opportunity Office and Legal Bureau in drafting of EEO policies and reviewing litigation; • Oversee over fifty affiliated organizations and employee resource groups providing leadership support, resources, and liaison with executive staff on any concerns raised by organization members; • Collaborate with affiliated organizations to plan events celebrating FDNY’s diverse cultures; • Facilitated FDNY’s first Racial Inclusion Task Force in the Building Awareness group developing messaging initiatives and educational curriculum to better educate FDNY members on racial inclusion; • Collaborate with other City agencies and community-based organizations on City-wide initiatives and events and represent the FDNY in city-wide equity initiatives; • Provide education on restorative practices for community building and conflict resolution.

Represent teachers, school-related professionals and local unions in employment and labor law matters at arbitration and in state and federal court. Develop and train union representatives on diversity and inclusion issues such as sexual harassment, cultural competency, and bystander intervention. Present at conferences on labor and employment matters including free speech and other constitutional issues. Mentor and oversee junior attorneys and law student interns.

Represent defendants in criminal proceedings.

Insurance defense litigation including trial and motion practice in state and federal court.
