As member of senior leadership team of the country's premier national historic preservation not-for-profit, Wendy led the National Trust's work in the Northeast, the region with the densest concentration of historic sites, communities, and organizations. She was regional thought-leader and the Trust's voice for heritage and cultural preservation in the ten states, Maine to Delaware. Wendy led efforts to save endangered historic places, to educate and build public awareness, to develop and advocate for national, state and local policy, and to build the capacity of the region's many preservation organizations. • Led strategic planning for nonprofits, engaging staff and volunteers to create focused visions for the future, with measurable implementation plans to accompany the vision • Oversaw annual grant making, awarding $200K - $1M+ across the region; raised new funds for grantmaking• In response to elimination of federal funding, piloted a regional fundraising campaign; exceeded goal by 50% and inspired other regional offices to take similar initiative.• Created a Northeast regional ‘circuit rider’ network of 19 seasoned professionals providing expertise, resources and inspiration for communities throughout the Northeast, dramatically expanding the availability of help across the region• Created regional program to engage and empower people working to save places of importance to African American history, aiding 200 leaders to save 35 important places• Fostered ‘whole place preservation’ by building bridges between national, state and local historic preservation and land conservation organizations and developing and disseminating inspiring informational resources • Identified trends and emerging threats to the region’s heritage, and directed campaigns to address them

Established in 1956, the Providence Preservation Society (PPS) is the nonprofit leader in Rhode Island’s capital city for education, advocacy, and technical support for the preservation of the city’s architectural heritage. Under Wendy's leadership, PPS received the prestigious National Preservation Honor Award for excellence in downtown and neighborhood revitalization, heritage education, cultural heritage tourism development, and advocacy for historic preservation and design excellence.
