I was initially hired in a BSA role and transitioned to my current Data Architect position at the city’s Water Utility application team, and I currently lead a BI team. My day-to-day work includes building dashboards, scorecards, performance measures reports, as well as data marts, queries, views, and writing stored procedures.Project highlights:• Developed data modules, portals, dashboards and reports using IBM Cognos Analytics and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for multiple departments including finance, HR, pipeline operations, treatment, and engineering.• Led execution of a Cognos update from v10 to v11 that included consolidation of 2600 reports to 800 reports, consolidation of 80 Cognos Packages to 35, and centralization of three retired report servers to one server. • Implemented Power BI to modernize BI tooling and built Power BI models and datasets using M and DAX.• Introduced Azure capabilities and functionality into BI data marts, ETL, and reporting environment.• Executed multiple Power BI projects that included analysis, tracking/trend reports, and dashboards to visualize water quality, fire hydrant issues, sewer overflows, etc. Built multiple Power BI tracking reports for the engineering services team related to asset availability, preventive maintenance schedules and costs, and labor performance.• Leveraged Power BI Desktop to connect to various data sources and transform data, model data, and create reports.• Served as Scrum Product Owner for a mobile application development effort. • Managed redesign of Austin Water Analytics home page.• Established report development standards with version control for BI team.• Converted existing stored procedures to SSIS packages.

I was initially hired as a Software Developer and transitioned to a Systems Analyst role responsible for technical leadership and collaboration with business and application teams to define functional and technical requirements, evaluate feasibility, and negotiate timelines and budgets. My role also required mentoring and coaching for new grad hires. In 2007 I was selected to a two-year Leadership Development Program with rotations in application development, PMO, and data architecture. In 2011 I was again selected to the one-year TELUS Leadership NOW cohort as the top candidate in the business unit for a program focused on leadership development for high-potential employees. Project highlights:• Delivered a Java-based web portal, Cognos dashboards, a network data warehouse, and reports displaying near real-time national network performance and activity monitoring data, status of service orders, and requests for changes as part of a $900M project for Quebec government. • Built a web-based tracking tool to monitor requests to meet SLAs as part of a $100M project for Ontario government.
