I'm a seasoned RN/Clinical Research Coordinator with 20 years of clinical experience at Carolinas HealthCare System. I have worn many hats in my career: bedside nurse, lab manager, case manager, QI coach, instructor, preceptor, innovator. Everything I have done seems to have prepared me perfectly for the world of research, a field where it pays to be a "jack of all trades."​ Being a research coordinator for a busy children's hosptial, I have worked in many areas of research -- from Phase I through Phasse IV trials, from the high-enrolling registry to the complex drug trial, from small government studies to multi-national industry-sponsored projects. I am passionate about what I do -- both about the patients I advocate for and the protocols I manage. What do I bring to the table?* I set high standards for myself and my work* I thrive in an environment where innovation and creative problem-solving are encouraged* I am skilled at nurisng tasks such as venipuncture, lab processing, AE assessment, etc.* I am highly organized, utilizing checklists, spreadsheets, and logs to manage several projects at once* I am equally comfortable behind a computer, interacting with a patient, and working with specimens in a lab* I am exhilarated by teaching and speaking to a group -- love sharing what I know and learning what I don't yet know!* I have been called a "systems-thinker who can see both the big picture and the small details"* I am able to function both as a member of a team and independently with little supervisionI would love to hear from anyone else who has a passion for clincial research! Update: It was a hard decision, but I have recently left my position at CHS after 20 years of service to venture into the world of the Contract Research Organization (CRO). It was a big step, but I am excited about the career advancement, learning, and new experiences I will have at PPD, a leading CRO, as I follow my passion: clinical research.
