I am an experienced, dynamic educator and musician who delights in sharing the musical experience with children. I use the music classroom to support the development of social and emotional bonds that empower young learners to succeed, crafting data-informed learning activities for my students that are tailored to their specific developmental, cultural and personal needs. To accomplish these outcomes, I am vigilant about self evaluation, collaboration with all stakeholders including families, teachers and administrators, and attentive to best practices based on the state and national standards and the real-time needs of my students. I enthusiastically leverage years of creative work as a professional violinist, vocalist and composer to benefit my community. Young people should be empowered and encouraged to create musical ideas and have the confidence to share them because this learning helps wire cognitive and emotional processes to be able to innovate in all kinds of ways. Outside of my music education work, I love to dance badly to pop music with my kids, roast and drink coffee and experience the outdoors through hiking and running.

My solo album, Place of Refuge is on iTunes and Pandora and I also perform, tour and collaborate with many well known artists including grammy-nominated guitarist Phil Keaggy and American/Irish Duo Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning. I have performed at many of Portland's top music venues including Jimmy Mac's, Wilfs and the Alladdin Theater. I produced and performed in a concert series, Acoustic Christmas, which ran for 10 seasons featuring a nine-piece ensemble and unique arrangements of holiday favorites. The series became a holiday tradition for many of the hundreds who attended the shows each year.
