To do that, I play a number of roles:• Promote the emerging profession of business coaching by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism• Offer specialized services for business coaches, including advocacy, publicity, professional development, standards for ethics and integrity• Build networks that connect business coaches, business coach training providers, users of business coaching• Gather research on business coaching: its history, definitions, characteristics, competencies, professional standards• Develop and oversee a lifelong ladder of professional development for business coaches, from training and webinars through professional certification at all levels to doctoral degrees in business coaching• Provide services, including global program accreditation, for business coaching training programs• Offer information, advice and referrals for buyers of business coaching• Nurture professional alliances with international advisory groups, academic bodies and like-minded coaching organizationsLike many business experts, I see business coaching as an essential service, alongside legal and financial services.
