Wendy received her BA degree in Management in Human Relations in 2007. She has been a LPN since 1985. She has over 21 years’ research experience at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). In her role as a Senior Clinical Quality Consultant she is developing a competency program and coordinates education/training for the Vanderbilt Coordinating Center. She has 13 years’ experience in human subject protection, regulatory affairs and compliance adherence conducting random compliance reviews /directed audits. She has also worked as a recruitment specialist on the Recruitment Innovation Center Grant, a research nurse for Pulmonary Hypertension protocols and as research coordinator for multiple sites including cooperative group studies. Wendy serves on numerous committees including the Evidence Based Nurse Committee, Editorial Board member for The Empowered Nurses peer reviewed journal. Wendy has hosted a Nurses Week Research Poster Sessions for VUMC for more than 10 years. Wendy coordinated a national meeting, Innovative Strategies: Taking the Protection of Human Subjects to the Next Level , co-hosted by Vanderbilt HRPP Program and the Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP). Wendy obtained her Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) certification in 2002, became a Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) Director, Board Member and eventually President. As president she was awarded the opportunity to speak in Tokyo, Japan. Wendy continues her SoCRA involvement as a member of the CCRP Certification Committee and as the Chair for the SoCRA Human Research Protection Program. She is on the planning committee recruiting numerous speakers and speaking multiple years for the Annual SoCRA Conferences .Wendy is co-founder and chapter Chairperson for the very active Middle TN SOCRA chapter where she hosts multiple meetings a month. For three consecutive years the Greater Nashville Chapter has been awarded the “Chapter Chairperson Recognition Award.” This award recognizes the “Greater Nashville Regional” chapter for granting the greatest amount of learning opportunity for clinical research Wendy is passionate about educating others about research, her most recent project was initiating a local Chapter and presenting a Good Clinical Practice course for Vanderbilt Global Health and Research in Abuja, Nigeria.
