In this role, I provide leadership and advice on business development opportunities to create jobs and build the economic growth of regional Western Australia. Current initiatives and responsibilities: • Leading business development opportunities in the Mandurah and Peel region for the Peel Development Commission, covering tourism and equine industry portfolios.• Provision of strategic advice to the CEO, Peel Development Commission Board and Ministers on regional business development issues, opportunities and management of Royalties for Regions funding.• Facilitating private and public proponents to develop business cases for Government consideration.• Leveraging Government funding to attract private investment into regional business development projects and initiatives.• Advocating cross-Government support for tourism development proposals and approvals.

Key Responsibilities:Identified and advised Government of business development opportunities of new industries and expansion of existing industries for the economic development and diversification of regional Western Australia, in order to build vibrant regions with strong economies. Managed a variety programs to create regional jobs and grow regional economies, engaging with Regional Development Commissions, Government agencies and private industry. Achievements included:• Governed a $400 million Seizing the Opportunity Agriculture Initiative, established the funding agreements and ensured correct financial management of Royalties for Regions funding, stakeholder engagement and delivery of milestones.• Led the delivery of an Agriculture Infrastructure Audit to identify constraints to the expansion of agriculture, analysing the whole supply-chain, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders, resulting in a strategic plan for Government to use in considering future funding for agriculture infrastructure.• Management of a $75 million Infrastructure Investment Fund. Led the business case development of major projects including telecommunications and agricultural infrastructure. Engaged with key Government stakeholders and defined the Governance framework. • Delivered an Agribusiness forum with over 100 participants, facilitating cross-Government collaboration. Developed the program and performed the role of MC. • Led a business development assessment into the renewable energy industry in WA, identifying significant opportunities for Government and private sector investment.• Hosted international delegations promoting our regional investment opportunities.• Chaired the Staff Recognition Committee to acknowledgement high performing staff who contributed to the Department’s strategic and business goals whilst displaying the Department’s values.

Developed and managed the Waste Authority’s diverse range of waste management Strategic Partnerships and Programs to support the implementation of the State's Waste Strategy on reducing waste to landfill and maximising recovery of recyclable resources.Strategic Partnerships included industry, Local and State Government agencies, community and conservation associations. Program management involved a range of activities from environmental policy development to business development and industry partnership forums.

Led research projects which delivered advice and outcomes of scientific research on issues relating to chemical hazard assessment for the protection of Defence personnel and civilian first responders.

Led a team of scientists to deliver technology projects related to the protection of Defence personnel.
