College Access Program Specialist For Baltimore City Public Schools
Current❂ Identifies, encourages, and assists students with information regarding education options beyond high school, including institutional choice, career options, admissions, and financial aid.❂ Assisted 99% (214/216) of Western High School's (WHS) class of 2020 apply to college. ❂ Secured acceptances for 96% (208/216) WHS 2020 to at least one 2-year or 4-year college or university.❂ Garnered $11 million in scholarships and grants for WHS 2020. ❂ Advises students about college entrance exams and test preparation resources. Assists students with test registration forms and provides fee waivers or payments where appropriate.❂ Supplies and assists students with admissions applications including The Common Application, Coalition, and institutional direct apply portals.❂ Serves as a student advocate with the best interest of the student as a prime concern through communication with colleges and universities, parents, high school programs, federal and state financial aid offices, CollegeBoard, and various external institutions.❂ Assists students with FAFSA and Maryland College Aid and Processing System (MDCAPS) completion, federal, state, and college-specific financial verification, and award acceptance.❂ Provides information about outside scholarships and CollegeBound Foundation managed scholarships and grants.❂ Works with high school students and their families during the summer months to assist them with college access activities to prevent summer melt.
