About Wendy Nelson
My research seeks to understand the dynamic evolution of the Earth over time. Presently, I'm studying how ancient geologic events can influence modern processes with respect to the generation of magma, continental rifting, and subduction initiation. I approach problems from a petrologic and geochemical perspective while integrating advances in seismology, remote sensing and numerical modeling. My research efforts span a range of geologic scales, from interpreting geochemical heterogeneities within individual minerals to the understanding the implications of global crustal recycling. I am field-oriented and proficient in clean lab techniques. I am also skilled at collecting high-precision geochemical and isotopic data using electron microprobe analysis and mass spectrometry (TIMS and MC-ICP-MS), respectively.
Listed skills include Geology, Science, Geochemistry, Earth Science, and 12 others.
