Prepared and briefed the Congressman for all congressional hearings and legislative markups under Ways & Means Trade Subcommittee. Monitored legislation and made vote, policy, and co-sponsorship recommendations in the issues areas assigned by the Congressman: international trade, foreign affairs, immigration, human rights, labor, education, defense, military, and veterans. Drafted talking points, speeches, extension of remarks for the public record, letters and legislation in the assigned issue areas.

Completed the fellowship in the office of Congressman Xavier Becerra. Participated in weekly leadership sessions geared to develop the next generation of Latino Leaders. Prepared and led a policy roundtable briefing on immigration issues facing congress. Organized and led a legal clinic on immigrant’s rights as part of a larger community service project.

Provided legal assistance to establish joint guardianships and assisted families in obtaining community services, counseling, and government benefits. Drafted and filed court documents for minors eligible under Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.

Interviewed clients eligible under the Violence Against Women Act. Completed various INS forms, gathered evidence, translated documents, conducted research, compiled exhibits, and flagged legal issues.
