Team Member & Sewing Instructor
Current
Sewing Instructor & Seamstress
CurrentSewing is my passion, and it has been my pleasure to share my love of the craft with others. In my home studio, I teach quilting from beginning to advanced techniques, all ages. Skills taught include basic blocks, log cabins, stars, 60-degree triangles, curves, Y-seams, borders, appliqué, English and foundation paper piecing. Finishing techniques including free-motion quilting on a home machine, walking foot quilting, squaring your finished work, and binding. In addition to quilting, I have extensive costuming experience. It has been my pleasure to guide first-time teen sewers through the steps necessary to create amazing cosplay costumes. Together we select patterns and fabric, discuss fitting and alteration techniques, and assess the skills needed to create their desired look. The end result is cool costumes made by the students, worthy of Comic-Con and all their social media posts. Costuming skills taught include the use and proper maintenance of a home sewing machine, pattern and fabric selection, measuring, pattern alteration, and cutting techniques. Construction skills include inset sleeves, collars, zippers, pleating, ruffles, decorative trim, final fitting, and hemming. I work as a seamstress to provide high-quality hand-made garments and home goods. Items include bags, decorative pillows, soft toys, kitchen and dorm-room accessories, and quilts. Need restoration work done on an antique quilt? I can help you there, too.
Executive Assistant And Transaction Coordinator
As the executive assistant and transaction coordinator for a highly successful real estate office, I successfully juggled multiple tasks as they arose. Gatekeeper and master of the calendar, phones, and emails, I was in constant contact with customers, vendors, and clients. I prepared contracts, obtained signatures, and submitted self-audited fully-executed contracts to corporate for compliance reviews. It was also my pleasure to gather marketing materials for sales presentations, organize open houses, and schedule buyer tours. As a contract employee, I was able to create a well-organized workspace, ensuring the incoming employee would be set-up for a smooth and successful transition.
Bookkeeper
As an experienced small-business bookkeeper, I am confident in all areas of fiscal management. My experience includes budgeting, accounting and finance, processing contracts, contract compliance and invoicing. I accurately manage A/P, A/R, expense approvals, timesheets, payroll and provide financial reporting support to the executive team. I have formulated procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer and disposal of records. In addition to my stellar customer service and communication skills, I have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, QuickBooks, DocuSign, Harvest, and other business applications and social media platforms. Office & Finance Manager
Working for a start-up design firm gave me the opportunity to utilize many of my administrative and financial support skills. Responsible for all aspects of the operational accounting, I handled payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, human resources, and all fiscal reporting. I worked closely with the partners to establish company policies and procedures. For efficient accounting, I set up QuickBooks and established Harvest as the time tracking system. I proofread all contracts for accuracy and compliance, bringing any concerns to the partners' attention immediately. Unfortunately, I created such a streamlined workflow that I worked my way out of a full-time job. My position was transitioned to part-time contract status, enabling me to pursue other interests.
Director, Preschool & Kindergarten
Challenger School was an amazing opportunity for me to participate in the education of hundreds of preschool and kindergarten students. I had the pleasure of leading a staff of 26 amazing professionals, which included licensed teachers and support staff. Together we created a fun and exciting environment that encouraged learning, maintained 100% enrollment, and ensured kids and parents ended each school day happy. Beyond staff management, parent conferences, and evening community events, I was also in charge of maintaining all educational supplies and books; ordering, distributing, repairing, and rotating inventory as needed.
General Manager, Partner
I was the general manager of a vaudeville theater and saloon in Campbell, California. To keep this small business running, I ran the front house including ticket sales and seating charts, stocked bar inventory, recruited and managed staff, scheduled and staffed events, and maintained the space use calendar. All financial accounting and budgeting was my responsibility, as well as marketing and community outreach. I acquired and maintained all necessary permits and licenses, and worked with state agencies to ensure compliance. As an active member of the creative team, I assisted in all aspects of show production which included show selection, casting, direction, choreography, costuming, set and prop construction, and performing. Lastly, I was the proud owner/operator of a leaf blower which was used to blow popcorn from under the seats once the final curtain had fallen and the saloon doors slammed shut.
