I lead the Research Services and Strategy Team at GWL Realty Advisors. Our mandate is to provide unique analysis and proprietary research to support the Canadian and global real estate investment goals of GWL Realty Advisors and its clients. Office, multi-residential, industrial and retail assets are our focus. I am also passionate about urban issues including housing attainability, mobility, liveability, climate resilience and carbon responsibility. I currently volunteer on the steering committee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of BC, and am also the co-chair of the RealPac Research Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors at the Urban Development Institute of BC. I regularly share thoughts and insights on conference panels, podcasts, or as a keynote speaker. My own background is somewhat unique, starting with a Ph.D. in History, specializing in 20th century economic development in emerging economies and the role of social change generated by infrastructure and technology investments. After teaching at the University of British Columbia in an adjunct/sessional capacity for two years, I experienced the dot com boom and bust first hand from inside Indexonly.com, a business directory start up. From there, after brief freelance business writing gigs, I was given an opportunity to lead Avison Young's new Vancouver-office research function. For nearly 5 years, I produced both market reports as well as white papers on such topics as the impact of hosting the Olympics on office and industrial demand as well as the rise of the knowledge economy in Vancouver, replacing natural resources. In 2006, I joined GWL Realty Advisors.
